Our Church
Converse First Baptist Church, "The Church of the Risen Lord", is just over 50 years old, formed in 1954 as a mission of Schertz First Baptist Church. Converse FBC has a history of service to military personnel and their families. Several of the current members are on active duty and many of our members are veterans.
Converse FBC is affiliated with San Antonio Baptist Association, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We are convinced of the need for cooperative ministry, and actively cooperate with other faith traditions in benevolence and social ministries.
We invite you to come worship with us, and experience for yourself the love, friendship, discipleship, and energy of "The Church of the Risen Lord". We hope that you might walk with us on the great adventure of the Christian life, and that we might meet the challenges of our spiritual journey together. Our Ministries
Converse FBC operates a food pantry ministry, supplied by the membership. It is open to all who are in need of food assistance for themselves or their families. We will serve as many as possible with the food we have to share. This ministry is overseen by the administrative staff. Call 210-658-2891, or come by our offices from 9AM to 1PM.
Our Women On Mission support the Christian Women's Job Corps, a ministry that teaches women how to enter or return to the job market, to support themselves or their families. CWJC offers classes and practical instruction at various locations in the SA area. Our Women On Mission groups assists them with clothing, cash donations to the program, and volunteer instructors. Women On Mission is also our active missions education group within the church. They meet quarterly. Please check our calendar for exact date and time.
The Greater Randolph Area Senior Center allows us to teach a Bible study from 10-11AM on Tuesday mornings. This study is attended by members of our church, seniors who are at the GRASP center for the day, and any others who desire to attend.
On Wednesday Nights we have "One Dollar/One Dinner" at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. You can receive a one-dish meal and a dessert for only $1 per person! Drinks are only 50 cents extra. The menu changes from week to week. Bible Study follows at 7 p.m.
We have for the last few years helping the Casa Hogar de Niños de Ciudad Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. This is an orphanage located in a city across the Rio Grande from Rio Grande City, Texas. So far our assistance has consisted of going down a few times each year with a load of food, clothes and other necessities, but we look forward to doing more as resources permit. We hope to add a page on this site in the future which will tell more about the orphanage.
