He Is Risen!

Converse First Baptist Church

The Church of the Risen Lord

DEVOTIONAL FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 1, 2007.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue, which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,
Says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV)

What a magnificent thing the Father is saying to us here! Nothing Satan or ANYONE else can bring against us is going to be effective in changing what God is doing in us. Those who speak ill of believers will be condemned. The heritage of the servants of the Lord is His protection, plus many other things, which we have not seen, and do not know at this moment. (Won’t they be a surprise later on?) The standing or righteousness we have is not intrinsically ours; we did not create it, and it is only given to us by God the Father, as a portion of our inheritance, in the name of Jesus.

So, we can rest, knowing our eternal safety, not worrying about our ability to keep our “righteousness”, and looking forward to our inheritance. This should relieve a lot of the tension in our lives.

The spiritual dimension cannot be discounted. Many try, but the truth is, the spiritual dimension rules our lives, and if God is indeed for us, who can stand against us? Not the Devil, not the boss, not the “system”, not the person down the street.. No one! But we must stand for Jesus.

What can we do now? We can be people of the “way”. We can be people of compassion in the face of hurt. We can be people of faith in the face of heresy and untruths. We can act because of what we believe God is doing for our protection, provision and promotion. Amen.

Give thanks for all the protection God has given you over the years. Give thanks for your enemies. They distinguish you from the herd. Be thankful for your heritage as a Christian, and as a member of your church. Think on “servanthood”. Stewards have great responsibility and great authority. You and I were never “righteous”, yet we can have standing as “Children of the King”.
